Winter Opening Times for Recycling Centres

Press release   •   Oct 13, 2014 16:02 BST

From Sunday 26 October, the opening times of recycling centres in Rochdale borough will change.  For the winter, Spring Vale in Middleton and Chichester Street in Rochdale will be open from 8am to 6pm everyday (all recycling centres will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day).

The network of 20 recycling centres throughout Greater Manchester allows residents the flexibility to use any centre, a local site or one that is en route to work or another destination.

In September, 69 per cent of all waste brought to the Greater Manchester recycling centres was either re-used, recycled or used for energy recovery. The recycling centres accept up to 23 types of material from textiles to TVs to fridge freezers and fluorescent tubes.

There are also community furniture and electrical re-use schemes at some of the centres, where residents can donate their re-usable furniture and large electrical items such as electric cookers and washing machines.
