Spooktacular events are a treat

Press release   •   Oct 15, 2014 12:33 BST

Libraries across the borough are inviting families to join them this half-term, as they celebrate Halloween.

A number of free, themed events will be taking place throughout the week, so take a break from trick or treating and immerse yourself in a world of witches and ghostly superstitions.

The locations, dates and times can be found below:

·  Menacing Mobiles, Tuesday 28 October, 2-4pm - Littleborough

Have fun colouring a selection of Halloween characters before stringing them together to make a spooky mobile!  All materials will be provided so just turn up with the family and get involved.

·  Halloween Writing Workshop, Friday 31 October, 2-3pm – Alkrington

A Halloween-themed writing workshop for children aged 6-11 with Explore Learning. Come along in your best Halloween fancy dress and receive a ghoulish goody bag. Call 0161 643 7799 to book your free place.

·  Halloween card masks, half-term drop in (27-31 October, during normal library opening hours) – Heywood

A drop in and colour session will be taking place throughout the week. So if you’re looking for something to do, drop by and have some fun.

·  Decorate a Halloween Pumpkin, half-term drop in (27-31 October, during normal library opening hours) – Smithybridge

Come along to Smithybridge Library over the half term holiday and decorate a Halloween pumpkin to take home with you. There is also a huge selection of books to choose from about witches, wizards, ghosts and ghouls, and stories for both the young and old, so come along and have a browse.

Councillor Neil Emmott, Cabinet Member for Corporate Services and Neighbourhoods:

“The library service is once again hosting a number of exciting events to keep families entertained this half term. Whether it’s making menacing mobiles or improving children’s writing skills, there is something for everyone, so take a look and get involved.”
