Rochdale Borough Council celebrated Pakistan Day, with the raising of the flag of Pakistan outside Rochdale Town Hall.

Pakistan Day marked on 23 March, commemorates the Lahore Resolution of 1940 and the adoption of the first constitution of Pakistan.

Council and community leaders helped hoist the flag.

Rochdale Borough Council Leader, Colin Lambert said: “We’re introducing our new official policy on flag raisings, to help us celebrate our rich and diverse community

“Pakistan Day was the second day in recent weeks to be marked by a flag-raising ceremony. It follows St Patrick’s Day on March 17 and St George’s Day will be celebrated on April 23.

“It is important for us to mark events and anniversaries like these which are close to our residents’ hearts.”
